Did one budgie kill the other?

We bought 2 budgies some years ago, two males, we were told. One was blue/white(george), the other was yellow/green(billy). Billy 1 didn’t live very long, and Billy 2 (the replacement) lived for some years, but died too. Both Billys and George fought occasionally. Is it possible that one killed the other? Might there be a genetic reason (blue/white a hardier variation perhaps?)
We did look after them very well. I’m not sure, but I think one of the Billys’ necks was broken, and budgies probably don’t fall off the perch that easily.
We had a cuttle bone. We also gave them mineral drops in the water and millet sprays for christmas (in a little stocking and everything)

Budgies are easily sexed after the age of 6 months. The area immediately above the beak is called the seer. In males the seer is blue. It has been my experience when birds kill each other, the dominant bird in the cage does it and my feeling is genetics or bad breeding. Usually I see this in females. To ensure a long life for future birds, buy from a trusted shop. The breast bone should not be sticking out. The area around the seer should be clean and the eyes clear. The bird should not be huddled in a corner with its head under its wings. To ensure a long life, feed the bird fresh greens and a pellet diet like “zu-preem”. Too much seed in the diet causes birds to die of fatty liver.
