not sure what to do about my daughter in laws.?

i have no relationship with my daughter in laws.
we have never been a particularly close family but i know that one of my daughters in laws comes from an extremely close open minded family..and my son really gets along with both her parents….more so then with me and his father (my husband)
I am extremely religious and probably not so open minded to the young ways of the world. I have nothing in common with my daughter in laws. They are both very successful business women but in their free time they like to shop, go out to bars, and other stuff that seems fun for young people.
I spend my time knitting, reading and enjoying bible study. Shopping is not something i enjoy. I dont love fashion like they do. They love spa days but I am not into appearance and fashionable. I feel like they are so different to me and I feel like my sons re drifting further into my daughter inlaws families and further away from mine.

Well aren’t these above posters just wonderful women. It is to automatic to be mean just because they assume the person asking is a mother-in-law.

I’m confused by reading your other questions. Are you the daughter-in-law or the mother-in-law? You basically asked the same question but only as a daughter-in-law, which by the way you got much kinder answers. Funny isn’t it? To many women automatically put the defense up when it is a mother-in-law but with automatically side when they think it is a daughter-in-law.

Anyway, everyone and anyone can enjoy a meal together. No matter how different you are there is always something to learn from others. Take turns having meals in each others homes.

You are all family and you all should be a part of each others lives. I just love the attitude, “if the daughter-in-law is happy than leave well enough alone”. Must be nice to be the most important dynamic in a family relationship.
